HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance No. 19303ORDINANCE NO. 19303 AN ORDINANCE REGARDING Ex-OFFICIO MEMBERS OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION AND THE DOWNTOWN COMMISSION; AMENDING SECTIONS 2.155 AND 2.330 OF THE EUGENE CODE, 191; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. THE CITY OF EUGENE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 2.155 of the Eugene Code, 1971, is hereby amended to read and provide: 2.155 Downtown Commission ~ Membershi Term ~facancies. ~1} The commission shall consist of nine voting members to be appointed by the council, and two ex officio nonvoting members to be appointed by the city (manager. ~2} 1loting members of the commission shall hold office for four years, except for initial members, two of whom shall have terms of four years; three far three years; three for two years; and one for one year, to be determined by the council at the time of appointment. The ex officio members shall hold office at the pleasure of the city manager. ~3} Any voting member who misses more than three consecutive regular meetings without having been given a leave of absence by the cammi ssi on steal l be removed by the council , and another member shat 1 be appointed by the council to complete the unexpired term of such member. ~4} Commission members shall receive no compensation but shall be;reimbursed far duly authorized expenses. ' ~5} Any. vacancy in the commission shall be filled by the council or the unexpired term of the predecessor in office. A vacancy shall occur upon the death or resignation of a member, or upon the removal of a member pursuant to section 2.155. Section 2. Section 2.330 of the Eugene Code, 1971, is hereby amended to read and provide: 2.33D P1 anni n Commission ~- Com asi ti on ~ Term ~ I~acanci es ~ Etc. ~1} The commission shall consist of seven voting members to be appointed by the council and two ex officio nonvoting members to be appointed by the city manager. ~~} The voting members of the commission shall hold offiice for four years. ~3} Any voting member who misses more than six consecutive regular meetings without having been given a leave of absence by the council shall be removed by the council, and another member shall be appointed by the council to complete the unexpired term of such member. ~4} Commission members shall receive no compensation but shall be reimbursed far duly authorized expenses.. That the matters contained herein concern the public ~el- fare and in order to provide for the implementation of the change in proce~ dunes provided for herein, an emergency is hereby declared to exist, and this ordinance shall became effective immediate]y upon its passage by the City Council and approval by the Mayor.
