AN ORDINANCE CONCERNING THE CHANGE OF NAME
OF ATLANTIC AVENUE To PACIFIC AVENUE AND
PACIFIC AVENUE TO ATLANTIC AVENUE; AND DECLARING
AN EMERGENCY.
The City Council of the City of Eugene finds that:
The owner of an industrial subdivision located on the west
side of Danebo Avenue between the Coos Bay Branch of the Southern
Pacific Railroad and west 11th Avenue has requested that the
names of two streets located entirely within the subdivision,
Atlantic Avenue and Pacific Avenue, be reversed.
The request has been reviewed by City staff, and the Council
has been advised that the proposal will nat create any new street
names, the names do not conflict with the names of any other
streets within the City, and since the property is vacant the
proposed change will not necessitate any modifications of existing
addresses.
No apposition to the reversal of the names of the streets
has been received, and na concurrence of abutting property owners
is necessary since all of the property fronting the two streets
is in the ownership of the applicant,
The applicant has asserted a belief that the reversal of
the names will facilitate the marketing and development of the
property in that the change of the name of the entry street
from Atlantic to Pacific will strengthen the association of
the development with the. northwest.
Native of a public hearing to be held on the 28th day of
January, 1985 at the Council Chambers, City Hall, Eugene, Oregon,
at 7:30 o"clock p,m, was' duly published in the Eugene Register
Guard, a newspaper of general circulation within the City, at
least once during the week immediately preceeding the hearing,
to-wit, on January 21, 1985.
NO~~ THEREFORE,
THE CITY OF EUGENE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The names and designations of Atlantic Avenue
and Pacific Avenue are hereby reversed, and Atlantic Avenue
is changed to Pacific Avenue, with Pacific Avenue being changed
to Atlantic Avenue, both of said streets being located west
on Danebo and south of the Southern Pacific Railroad, within
the City of Eugene ,

Section 2. The City Manager is requested to cause appropriate
signs to be installed indicating that Atlantic Avenue is no_w
Pacific Avenue, and Pacific Avenue is now Atlantic Avenue.
Section 3. That certified copies of this ordinance shall
be f i ed with the Lane County Clerk, the Lane County Assessor ,
and the Lane County Surveyor.
Section 4, That the matters contained herein concern the
public safety and welfare and theref are an emergency is hereby
declared to exist, and this Ordinance shall become effective
immediately upon its passage by the City Council ana approval
by the Mayor.
