Councilors Present: Emily Semple, Matt Keating, Alan Zelenka, Jennifer Yeh, Mike Clark,
Claire Syrett, Randy Groves, Greg Evans
Council President Claire Syrett opened the May 16, 2022, work session of the Eugene City
Council in hybrid in-person and virtual format.
1. Boards and Commission Interviews
City councilors heard from applicants for open positions on the City's advisory boards and
commissions. Each candidate gave a prepared statement about their interest in and
qualifications for the position they applied for.
Toxics Board:

Council Discussion:
• Councilor Zelenka -inquired about the people who could not attend; asked if there will be
a second opportunity for interviews.
• Councilor Keating -commented that a second opportunity to interview sounds reasonable
for people who were not able to make it; said he appreciated the individuals who could not
attend that submitted written testimony and reminded council that they can reach out to
individuals for further discussion.
• Councilor Groves -asked for clarification on the actual ballots and if those are the
documents that directly follow the AIS; asked if that is what needs to be returned.
• Councilor Syrett -directed staff and the City Manager to reach out to the remaining
applicants to schedule a second interview opportunity.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:20 p.m.
