AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE NUCLEAR FREE EUGENE
ACT; .
The City Council of the City of Eugene finds as follows
1. On Navember 4, 1986 the electors of the City of Eugene
passed an ordinance entitled the "Nuclear Free Eugene Act."
Z. Section 5~1} of that ordinance requires the City Council
to appoint a temporary Eugene Nuclear Free Zone Board within one
month of the enactment of the ordinance,
3. Additional time is needed to recruit potential members
of the Board and to study the effects and implementation of that
ordinance,
NoW, THEREFORE,
THE CITY OF EUGENE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS;
Section 1. Section 5~1} of the Nuclear Free Eugene Act is
amended to read and provide as follows:
The people of Eugene shall biennially elect a 7 person
Eugene Nuclear Free Zone Board thereinafter referred to as
the Board} to oversee adherence to this Act. The elections
shall occur on the first Tuesday of November of every even-
numbered year. Within one hundred and twenty ~1~0} days of
enactment of this Act the City Council shall appoint a tem-~
parary Board to serve until the next indicated election time,
