AN ORDINANCE CONCERNING THE AIRPaRT COMMI5SI0N; AMENDING
SECTIONS 2.013 AND 2.050 OF THE EUGENE CODE, 1971; AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
THE CITY OF EUGENE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The designation of the Airport Commmission set forth in Sec-
tion 2.013 of the Eugene Code, 1971, is amended to provide:

*The initial term for one of the twa members recommended by the Board
of Caunty Commissioners shall be for three years.
Section 2. Section Section 2.050 of the Eugene Code, 1971, is amended
to provide:
2.050 Air ort Commission - Created; Terms.
~1} There is hereby created an Airport Commission, hereinafter
referred to as "'commission," which shall consist of nine members nominated
by the mayor and appointed by the council. Twa of the members shall be
selected from recommendations made by the Lane County Board of County Com-
missioners. The twa members recommended by the Board of County Commissioners
shall be residents of Lane County, and may reside inside or outside the city
limits, The requirements of section 2.013~5~ of this code that members be
residents of the city at the time of their appointment and during their term
of office ~s specifically waived for the two members of the commission recom-
mended by the Board of County Commissioners. The chairman of the Aviation
Committee of the Eugene Area Chamber of Commerce shall be an ex officio and
non-voting member of the Airport Commission. His or her term shall coincide
with his or her term as chairman of the Aviation Committee. Other ex officio
members may be appointed by the mayor; however, they shall act in an advisory
capacity and may not vote.

~2} Except for the initial term of one of the two commission mem-
bers recommended by the Board of County Commissioners which shall be for
three years, the term of office of each member, other than an ex officio mem-
ber, shall be for faun years unless that tenure shall expire by reason of
death, resignation, inability to serve or by removal by the commission or the
council. .Any vacancy in the membership of the commission shall be filled for
the unexpired term in the same manner as the original appointment.
Section 3. That the matters contained herein concern the public welfare,
and in order to insure the orderly implementation of these provisions, an
emergency is hereby declared to exist, and this ordinance shall become effec-
tive immediately upon its passage by the City Council and approval by the
Mayor.
