AN ORDINANCE CONCERNING THE BOXING COMMISSION; AMENDING
SECTTDN 2.013 OF THE EUGENE CODE, 1971; REPEALING SEC-
TIONS 2.060 AND 2.065 OF THAT CODE; AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY.
The City Council of the City of Eugene finds that;
Amendments to DRS 463.010 to 463.990 enacted by the 1987 Oregon Legisla-
tive Assembly create an Oregon State Boxing and wrestling Commission with
exclusive jurisdiction to regulate al 1 professional boxing and wrestl i n
g
matches and exhibitions within the state. The City's Boxing Commission is
therefore in conflict with state law. The Boxing Commission should be dis-
solved and provisions relating thereto in the Eugene Code, 1911 re soled.
p
Now, therefore,
THE CITY OF EUGENE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Based upon the above findings, which are adopted herein,
the table of boards, commissions and committees set forth in Subsection 1
~~
of Section 2.013 of the Eugene Code, 1971, is amended by deletin "Boxin
g g
Commission" therefrom, and Sections 2.060 and 2.065 of that Code are re soled.
p
Section 2. That the matters contained herein concern the public welfare
and safety and therefore, an emergency is hereby declared to exist, and this
Ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its passage by the Cit
y
Council and approval by the Mayor.
