AN ORDINANCE CONCERNING ANIMAL EUTHANASIA; AMENDING
SECTION 4.45D OF THE EUGENE CODE, 1971; AND DECLARING
AN EMERGENCY.
THE CITY DF EUGENE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Subsection ~1~ of Section 4.450 of the Eu ene Code 1911
9 ~ ,
is hereby amended to read and provide:
4.450 Animal Euthanasia.
~1~ No animal agency may put to death a dog or cat by any means
other than an individual injection of sodium pentobarbital administered by
a veterinarian, animal technician or person licensed by the Oregon State
Veterinary Medical Examining Board to administer sodium pentobarbital.
Section 2. That the matters contained herein concern the public welfare
and safety and therefore, an emergency is hereby declared to exist, and this
Ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its adoption by the City
Council and approval by the Mayor.
