HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance No. 19269ORDINANCE N0. 1~'~~~ AN ORDINANCE CONCERNING ASSAULT AND BATTERY; AMENDING SECTION 4.730 OF THE EUGENE CODE, 1971; ADDING ANEW SECTION 4,729 TD THAT CODE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. THE CITY OF EUGENE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. There is hereby added to the Eugene Cade, 1971, a new Sec- tion 4.729, to read and provide; 4,729 Battery. No person shall by any means, intentionally, knowingly or recklessly: ~a) Cause bodily harm to another person, or fib} Make physical contact with another person, which contact is of an offensive nature to a person of ordinary sensibilities. Section 2. Section 4.730 of the Eugene Code, 1971, is hereby amended to read and provide: 4.730 Assault. No person shall intentianally, knowingly, or recklessly place or attempt to place another persan in fear of an imminent battery as defined in section 4.729 of this code. Section 3. That the matters contained herein concern the public welfare and safety and therefore, an emergency is hereby declared to exist, and this Ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its passage by the City Council and approval by the Mayor.
