AN ORDINANCE CONCERNING THE JULY 1, 1984
T4 JUNE ~~, 1985 AD VALOREM PROFERTY TAB
LEVY FOR THE CITY OF EUGENE; AMENDING
ORDINANCE NO. 19261; AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY.
The City Council of the City of Eugene finds that:
On ,Tune 27, 1984 Ordinance No. 19261 was passed by the
Counci 1 and approved by the Mayor adopting the budget, making
appropriations, and determining and levying the annual. ad valorem
real property taxes for the City far the fiscal year July 1,
1984 to June 3~, 1985.
Section 3 of that Ordinance provided that a total levy
of $26,156,36 be made against all taxable property within the
City of Eugene in general.
The Ffinance officer has advised that ffinal verification
in the assessed valuation of newly annexed territories resulted
in the levy being understated by $85,462.
Ordinance No. 19261 should be amended to reflect the correct
total levy of $26,244,49H. This correction does not alter the
appropriations set forth in Ordinance No. 19261, nor the budgeted
collection rate.
NOW, THEREFORE,
THE CITY OF EUGENE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Based upon the above findings, which are incorpor-
ated herea.n, Section 3 of Ordinance No. 19261 is hereby amended
to read and provide:
Section 3. That a total levy of $26, 244, 498
be made against all taxable property within the City
of Eugene in general, for the purpose of deriving
funds necessary to carry an the different programs
and to meet the expenses of the city government of
the City of Eugene for the fiscal year beginning July
1, 1984, and ending June 3~, 1985, and to create and
provide sinking funds and interest funds for the vari-
ous outstanding bonds and obligations of the City.
Section 2. Except as herein amended, all other terms and
provisions of Ordinance No. 19261 remain in full force and effect.

Section 3. That the annual levy of taxes for the City
of Eugene for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1984 and ending
June 3 ~ , 19 8 5 i s required by law to be made by the City Counc i 1
and certified to the County officers of Lane County, Oregon
prior to the time for completing the tax rolls, so that the
tax rolls may be extended and the taxes thereon collected at
the time that other taxes are collected. The levy must be made
and completed and in the hands of the County officers prior
t o August 15, 1984, and it is necessary for the peace, health
and safety of the citizens of the City of Eugene that the levy
be placed in the hands of the County Assessor without delay.
Therefore an emergency is hereby declared to exist, and this
ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its passage
by the City Council and approval by the Mayor.
