An Ordinance Changing Tivey-Wheeler Road
to Goodpasture Island Road
The City Council of the City of Eugene finds that:
The Planning Commission of the City of Eugene did, on October 8, 1984,
recommend to the City Council of the City of Eugene that the street known as
Tivey~-Wheeler Road be changed to Goodpasture Island Road.
Notice of a public hearing to be held on the 17th day of October, 1984
in the Council Chambers, City Hail, Eugene, Oregon, at 11:45 a.m. of said
day, was duly published in the Eugene Register Guard, a newspaper of general
citrcul ati an wi thi n the city, at 1 east once during the week immediately re-
ceedin the herein t ~ .p
. g g , A that time and place, the Council heard all ab~ec-
t~ons and comments with respect to the change of name of Tivey-Wheeler Road
to Goadpasture Island Road.
THE CITY OF EUGENE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Eugene finds that due and
regular notice of the. hearing on the change of name of Tivey--wheeler Road to
Goodpasture Island Road was published as by law required and that na valid
objections have been made at the hearing or filed herein, and the public
interest will not be prejudiced by the change of name.
Section ~. The name and designation of the present Tivey-Wheeler Road
as described in Exhibit A, attached, is hereby changed to Goodpasture
Island Road.
Section 3. The City Manager shall cause appropriate signs to be instal-
led ~nd~cat~ng that Tivey-Wheeler Road is now Goadpasture Island Road.
Sectian 4. That certified copies of this Ordinance shall be filed with
the Lane County Recorder, Lane County Assessor, and the Lane County Surveyor.

TIVEY WHEELER ROAD To GOODPASTHRE ISLAND ROAD
Beginning at the Southeast career of Section 24, Tawnshi p ll South, Range 4
West, Wi 1 ~ amette Meridian, thence North 89~ 31' 30" West, 59.90 feet to a
point on the Easterly right-of-way line of the proposed street name change,
said point being the True Point of Beginning; thence North along the Easterly
ri ght~of-way line of Ti vey Wheeler Road, 517 feet r~ore ar less to a poi nt of
intersection with the Southerly right-of-way line of valley River Drive ~ al sa
known as Gaadpasture Island Road relocated, thence North 89° 59' 37" West,
90 feet mere or less to the Westerly ri ght~af~way line of Ti vey Wheeler Road,
also known as County Road #851 ~Gaodpasture island Raad}, thence South along
the Westerly right-of-way line of the above described Ti vey Wheeler Road/Good-
pasture ~sl and Road 654 feet more or less to the Southerly terminus of Ti vey
Wheeler Road; thence South 89° 28' 51", East 50 feet to the Easterly right-af-
way line of Tivey Wheeler Raad; thence North 0° 31' D9", East 137.66 feet to
the True Point of Beginning, in Eugene, Oregon.
The intent i s to describe that public right-of--way which appears to be the
southerly extension of Goadpasture ~ sl and Road South of val 1 ey River Drive
a distance of 655 feet more or less. Right-of~way width being variable
between 50 feet to 9Q feet.

0n Gctaber 8, I984, the Eugene Planning Commission considered a request for a
. change, i n street name far Ti vey-Wheeler Raad as Shawn on the .attached vicinity
rnap. The change would rename this short stretch of road to Goodpasture Island.
.Road which i~t connects to on the north. Other sections of Tivey-Wheeler Road
were vacated when Val ~ ey River Center was developed i n the 1960' s .

The Planning Commission has recommended that the City Gouncz~ approve the
request. Referral. to. various public agencies i nc.l udi~ng Public Works and. the
Eugene. Post Gf f ~ c.e support the change which wau.l d reduce any .confusion aver
street names and addresses. The Perkins office development which is being
constructed a~ ong this stretch of street. also supports .the recommended change..
The staff recommends approval of the change as~ recommended by the Planning
Commission.
