ISSUE STATEMENT
Staff requests City Council initiation of land use code amendments implementing task team
recommendations for the Infill Compatibility Standards (ICS) and Opportunity Siting (OS) projects.
BACKGROUND
The ICS and OS projects were initiated by City Council action in July 2006, when the council approved
the Planning Commission’s strategy for addressing infill standards and opportunity siting. The Task
Teams began meeting in November 2007, and have met monthly since then, studying the issues and
developing draft recommendations. Project updates were provided to the council at December 2008
work sessions. The ICS Task Team passed a series of motions at their March meeting, including
requests for initiation of code amendments to begin implementing their recommendations. The OS Task
Team will make its recommendations to the Planning Commission in June.
The Task Teams will finish their work in July 2009. Final recommendations will be brought forward for
public hearings during the summer and fall, as necessary.
