ISSUE STATEMENT
This is a work session for Executive Recruiter from Alliance Resource Consulting Eric Middleton to
present updated information on the candidates identified for further consideration for the position of
Police Auditor to the council in executive session.
BACKGROUND
The position of Police Auditor has been vacant since August 22, 2008. The application deadline for this
recruitment was December 8, 2008. Following the February 23-25 interview process, the council
decided to adjust the minimum qualifications and reopen the recruitment through March 26, 2009. Mr.
Middleton will present the updated information in executive session and get the council’s direction on
which candidates they would like to bring to Eugene for interviews.
RELATED CITY POLICIES
This item is not directly related to a City policy. However, the hiring of a Police Auditor relates to the
council values of a “Safe Community” and “Effective, Accountable Municipal Government.”
COUNCIL OPTIONS
The council may:

Direct Mr. Middleton and Alliance Resource Consulting to arrange for candidates they select
to move forward to the interview process scheduled for May 11-12.

Direct Mr. Middleton and Alliance Resource Consulting to reopen the recruitment.
