AN ORDINANCE CONCERNING ABATEMENT PROCEDURES;
AMENDING 5ECT~ON 8,005 OF THE EUGENE CODE, 1971;
AND DECZARING AN EMERGENCY.
THE CITY OF EUGENE DQES ORDAIN AS Fo~I~QWS:
Section 1. Subsection t_~ } ~ c ~ 2 , of Section 8.0 0 5 of the Eugene
Code, 1971, is hereby amended to read and provide:

2. The notice to vacate shall be posted at
or upon each exit of the building, and shall be in
substantially the following form:
DANGEROUS
DO NOT ENTER -~ UNSAFE TO OCCUPY
DATE OF PASTING:
Notice is hereby given that the building described
as
Description of building, as vacant two-story house
at northeast corner of Green Street and High Street}
and addressed as:

is unsafe to enter and occupy
The owner or person in responsible charge of this
property must remedy the unsafe condition or demol-
ish the building or the city will proceed to do so
and charge the cost thereof to the owner. The
owner has ten ~l0 } days from the date of this post-
ing to appeal the determination of unsafe building
to the Eugene City Council. A request far an
appeal may be made by contacting the department of
public works building division in accordance with
section 203-~B ~.c~. of the Administrative Cade.
Tt is a violation of law to occupy this build-
ing or to remove or deface this notice.

Section 2. Matters relating to the abatement of dangerous or
unsafe buildings within the City affect the pub~.ic welfare and safety,

and it is necessary that the provisions hereof be in effect at once
so as to insure consistent notification to property owners when appl i-
cable that a dangerous condition exists. Adoption of this Ordinance
will not diminish the adequacy of the notification, and, therefore,
an emergency is hereby declared to exist, and th~,s Ordinance shall
become effective immediately upon its passage by the City Council and
approval by the Mayor.
