AN ORDII~ANCE CONCERNING THE PROFESSIONAL
OFFICE SIGN D2STRICT; ADDING SECTION 8.656
TG THE EUGENE CODE, 1971; AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY.
THE CITY of EUGENE DOES ORDAIN AS FoLLOwS.
Section 1. There is hereby added to the Eugene Code, 1971,
a new section to be numbered and provide:
8.656 Professional-office Sign District. Within the pro-
fessional-office sign district signs shall be designed
for vehicles traveling at an average speed of 25 - 35 miles
per hour. Large office building complexes require more sign-
ing than permitted in the residential sign district, yet the
signing must be compatible with the neighboring residential
property.
{a} All signs within the professional_office
district are subject to the following provisions:
1. All signs must comply with .yard and
setback requirements of the zoning ordinance;
and
2. Illumination shall comply with the
requirements of section S. 655 {a} 1 and 2 of this
code.
{.b} The fallowing signs shall be permitted in
the professional-office district.
1. An individual business located within
the professional-office district shall be per-
mitted one free-standing or wall-mounted identity
sign, not exceeding 32 square feet in surface
area. Free-standing signs shall have a maximum
height of S feet above grade; wall signs shall
have na height limitation.
2. Multiple businesses occupying one
building shall be allowed one overall free-
standing or wall-mounted identity sign with a
maximum surface area of 32 square feet. In
addition, each separate business occupancy shall
be permitted one wall-mounted identity name
plate, at a maximum size of 12 square feet in
surface area; such sign to be located within the
occupancy perimeter of the advertised business.
Section 2. That the matters contained herein concern the
public welfare, and in order to insure the orderly administration
of the City's sign code, an emergency is hereby declared to exist,
and this Ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its pas-
