AN ORDINANCE DISSOLVING THE COMMISSION NOW EXERCISING THE
POWERS OF THE URBAN RENEWAL AGENCY OF THE CITY OF EUGENE,
TRANSFERRING SUCH POWERS TO THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF EUGENE, ADDING SECTION 2.955 AND AMENDING SECTION 2.013
OF THE EUGENE CODE, 1971.
The City Council of the City of Eugene finds that:
~1~ Resolution No. 1433 adopted by the Council an July 10, 1961,
created a commi ss i on to exercise tie powers of the Urban Renewal Agency
of the City of Eugene.
~2} Ordinance No. 18639 adopted by the Council on June 4, 1950,
increased the membership of the commission and reaffirmed the rovi si ons
s p
of Resolution Na. 1433 in all other respects.
~3~ ORS 457.045 and ORS 457.055 permit the Council to transfer the
authority to exercise the powers of the Urban Renewal Agency of the City
of Eugene from the commission now exercising those powers to the Council
itself.
~4} The Council desires to transfer such authority from the commission
to the Council.
NOW, THEREFORE,
THE CITY OF EUGENE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The commission now exercising the powers of the Urban Renewal
Agency of the City of Eugene, is dissolved.
Section 2. Pursuant to ORS 457.445 and ORS 451.055, the following new
section is hereby added to the Eugene Code, 1971, to read and provide as
follows:

~1} The city council of the City of Eugene is hereby designated

the Urban Renewal Agency of the City of Eugene, and is vested with all
powers granted to an urban renewal agency by Chapter 457 of the Oregon
Revised Statutes or by any other provision of 1 aw.

of the City of Eugene shall be considered the acts of the Urban Renewal
Agency. only, and not of the council.
~3~ All duties and obligations of the commission which formerl

hereby assumed by the council.
