HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance No. 18470ORDINANCE N0. ~~ AN ORDINANCE REPEALING ORDINANCE N0. 18430; MAKING APPROPRIATIONS, DETERMINING AND LEVYING THE ANNUAL TAX FOR THE CITY OF EUGENE FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING JULY 1, 1919, AND ENDING JUNE 30, 1980, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. The C7 ty of Eugene does ordain as fol ~ ows Section 1. By Ordinance No. 18430 adopted the 27th day of June, 1979, certain appropriations were made based on a proposed levy to be submitted to the voters. That ~ evy was rejected by the voters, and Ordinance No. 18430 should be, and is hereby repealed. Section 2. That the budget far the City of Eugene, Oregon, for the year commencing July 1, 1979, and ending June 30, 1980, as set forth in Section 2 below be, and the same is hereby adopted. That a total levy of $15,536,833 be made against all taxable property within the City of Eugene i n general , for the purpose of deriving funds necessary to. carry on the different programs, and to meet the expenses of the city government of the City for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1919, and ending June 3D, 1980, and to create and provide sinking funds and interest r funds for the various outstanding bonds and obligations of the City, Section 5. That the City Recorder is hereby directed to certify the levies as herein made and set. forth to the County Clerk and County Assessor of Lane County, Oregon, and the Department of Revenue in Salem, Oregon, and shall file with them a copy of the budget as finally adopted. Section 6. That the annual levy of taxes for the City of Eugene for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1979, and ending June 30, 1980, i s required by law to be made by the City Counci l of :said City and certified to the Caunty officers Ordinance--3 IS-t~o of lane County, Oregon, before the time of completing the tax roils, so that the tax ro~is may be extended and the taxes therein collected at the time that othe r taxes are collected, and that said ievy must be made and completed and in the hands of said County officers immediately, and it i s necessary to the peace, health, and safety of the City of Eugene that the said ievy be pi aced in the hands of the County Assessor without delay and therefore an emergency i s ,. hereby deci ared to exist and this Ordinance shat 1 take effect .,rand be i n fui i farce from and after its passage by the City Council and approval by the Mayar.
