ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER NO. 58-25-37
of the City Manager
AUTHORIZING THE EUGENE PARKS AND OPEN SPACE DIVISION
MANAGER TO SIGN AND SUBMIT AN APPLICATION FOR A LAND
AND WATER CONSERVATION FUND GRANT FROM THE OREGON
PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT FOR SCOBERT GARDENS
PARK.
The City Manager of the City of Eugene finds that:
A. The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department is accepting applications for the
Land and Water Conservation Fund Grant Program.
B. The City of Eugene desires to participate in this grant program to the greatest extent
possible as a means of providing needed park improvements and enhancements.
C. The City of Eugene has identified the renovation of Scobert Gardens Park as a high
priority need in the Whiteaker Neighborhood of Eugene.
D. The grant-funded project would include construction of a fully accessible looped
sidewalk, lighting, a new playground, trees, and site furnishings.
E. The City of Eugene has available local matching funds to fulfill its share of
obligation related to this grant application should the grant funds be awarded.
F. The City of Eugene acknowledges that any site that has been acquired, developed,
or improved, no matter how small the improvement, with funds from the LWCF grant program,
must be open to the public and maintained in perpetuity for public outdoor recreation.
G. The City of Eugene will provide adequate funding for on-going operations and
maintenance of Scobert Gardens Park, should the grant funds be awarded.
On the basis of these findings, I order that:
Section 1. This administrative order is a demonstration that the City of Eugene officially
supports the Parks and Open Space Division Manager’s submittal of a grant application to the
Oregon Park and Recreation Department for the renovation of Scobert Gardens Park.
Section 2. This Order shall be effective immediately upon my signing it.
