Eugene Municipal Court Leases Springfield Jail Beds
Eugene Municipal Court has negotiated an agreement with the City of Springfield Jail for the lease of 10 jail beds.
Eugene will add the 10 beds to its current 15-bed inventory at Lane County Adult Corrections for a total of 25 jail
beds. The additional jail beds will not only provide Municipal Court with more jail capacity, but will help ensure that
defendants comply with alternative sanctions such as work crew, community service and diversion programs. The
Springfield beds will also reduce the stress on the current 15 Lane County beds and provide more space to hold pre-
arrangement offenders before they are released due to lack of jail capacity.
The Springfield Jail houses only healthy male prisoners. Female prisoners and prisoners with significant medical
conditions will continue to be sentenced into the Lane County Adult Corrections Facility. Municipal Court looks
forward to the partnership with Springfield and the joint effort to help improve safety in the community. Eugene will
begin using the Springfield jail beds on December 9, 2010.
Please contact Court Administrator Jeff Perry at 541-682-5019 with concerns or
comments.
