No action is required by the City Council. BACKGROUND At its 1997 fall process session, the council agreed to include a monthly agenda item entitled "Ceremonial Matters." From time to time, the Mayor is asked to sign proclamations or acknowledge awards received, which serve to encourage and educate the community about important issues and events.
