Mayor Piercy called the meeting to order and thanked staff for scheduling this council workshop in order to keep the new City Hall discussion moving along. Ms. Hammitt explained that the purpose of the workshop was to have a free - flowing conversation on the subjective features of the City Hall options being considered. She said that tonight the council would review the results of the City Hall Options Survey the councilors took prior to the workshop, and that Larry Hill would facilitate the discussion. Mr. Hill distributed the agenda and explained that the primary goal of the workshop was to allow all councilors to share their thoughts on the City Hall options and project values and to advance the council's thinking on selecting a location for the new City Hall. Mr. Hill told the council that the staff had made wall posters displaying the Option Survey results for each value and had the wall posters mounted on the walls for the Councilors' review. The wall posters showed an array of dots which illustrated the extent to which the Councilors felt that each of the three options (Existing Site /Rebuild; Existing Site /Build New; EWEB Site) reflected the project's values. The Councilors reviewed the data and discussed the survey results for each of the project values and offered their thoughts on the options as they related to the project values. Mr. Hill said that the workshop provided the council with a better idea of each other's views. Ms. Hammitt summarized key points of the discussion as: an interest in identity; building for 50 -100 years in the future; flexibility; a place where people chose to come; financial stewardship; allowing enhancements, for example a farmer's market; connecting to the river.
