HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance No. 20508ORDINANCE NO. 20508 AN ORDINANCE TEMPORARILY SUSPENDING MULTIPLE UNIT PROPERTY TAX EXEMPTIONS UNDER SECTIONS 2.945 AND 2.947 OF THE EUGENE CODE, 1971. The City Council of the City of Eugene finds as follows: A. The City's Multiple Unit Property Tax Exemption Program under Sections 2.945 and 2.947 of the Eugene Code, 1971 (the MUPTE program), which is enabled by state statute, was first implemented by the City in July of 1977, to address the City's long term goal of improving the health of targeted areas in the City by increasing housing density. Since its initial implementation, the MUPTE program has been modified various times in response to Council directive and in order to remain in compliance with State Statutes. B. It is in the public interest to undertake an evaluation of the MUPTE program at this time to determine whether changes should be made to the program. During the evaluation period, the MUPTE program should be suspended. C. Any MUPTE program application submitted before the effective date of this Ordinance should be processed in accordance with the laws and procedures as they existed prior to the adoption of this Ordinance. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EUGENE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1 . Based upon the above findings which are adopted, as of the effective date of this Ordinance, the City shall suspend the Multiple Unit Property Tax Exemption Program under Sections 2.945 and 2.947 of the Eugene Code, 1971, and no applications will be accepted, until after the this Ordinance has been repealed. Section 2 . The prohibition imposed by Section 1 above shall not apply to any application submitted prior to the effective date of this Ordinance. 2013. Section 3 .
