Let’s hear it for Crescent Village for bringing the Love Food Not Waste
(LFNW) commercial compost program to over 100 businesses!
Crescent Village businesses include Izumi Sushi & Grill, b Wine Bar,

Hard Core Yoga, Mezza Luna Pizzeria, Bello Day Spa & Salon, Pho Asian
Bistro, and Ratatouille Bistro. There are now well over 100 businesses
participating in the program, and over 1,300 TONS of commercial food
waste has been diverted from the landfill.

Bestselling Novelist Lauren Oliver at Eugene Public Library
The Downtown Eugene Public Library will host a visit by Lauren Oliver on Saturday, March 9, at 4 p.m., the same week that
legions of teen and adult fans worldwide will celebrate the release of “Requiem,” the final book of her bestselling “Delirium
Trilogy.” Admission is free.
The first two books in the series, “Delirium” and “Pandemonium” were back-to-back
international bestsellers. The story is set in a world where love is deemed illegal and can be
eradicated with a special procedure. With 95 days to go until her scheduled treatment, the
tale’s heroine does the unthinkable: she falls in love. The television rights to the trilogy have
been purchased for development as a Fox series starring Emma Roberts.
“Delirium” was named a top book of the year by NPR, USA Today, Amazon, Kirkus Reviews,
Barnes & Noble, and Publishers Weekly. Oliver’s debut novel, “Before I Fall,” was named to
NPR’s Best Books of 2010 and Amazon’s list of Top 10 Young Adult Books of 2010. In addition
to writing, Oliver is co-founder of the literary incubator Paper Lantern Lit.
Oliver will be joined in Eugene by young adult authors Debra Driza (“Mila 2.0”), Claudia Gray
(“Spellcaster”), Dan Wells (“Fragments”), and Kiersten White (“Mind Games”), who are traveling together as the
HarperCollins “Dark Days Tour.” The writers will discuss their works, share tricks of the trade, and offer advice on getting

Recreation Offers a Variety of Spring Break Camps
No matter whether a child prefers water, soccer fields, adventure or competition, Recreation Services is ready to keep kids
busy at a variety of fun and active camps that will be held during the upcoming spring break at the end of March.
In Tots Soccer Academy, experienced coaches will introduce three- to five- year-old
youngsters to the joys of the world’s most popular sport. This camp is held at Petersen
Barn Park, 9 - 10 a.m., March 25 -29.
Youth in grades K-6 choose arts, sports, water games, pool parties and more at the
Urban Adventures - KCA Camp held at Sheldon Center and Pool, March 25 - April 1, 7:30
a.m. - 6 p.m.
Youth ages 9 - 13 will learn a variety of skills at Survivor Bethel Camp. In the morning,
they will learn survival skills such as cooking a meal, tying a knot, or using a compass or
a GPS. Then they will put those skills to use in the afternoon. This camp is at Petersen
Barn Community Center, March 25 - 29 and April 1 - 5.
Participants in activities for 8th graders and younger children will learn passing, shooting, dribbling, and ball handling at
Water Polo Camp held at Echo Hollow Pool & Fitness Center from March 25 - 29, 8 - 11 a.m.
Tweens and teens, ages 11 - 15, will work together on service projects and earn the right to participate in activities such
as canoeing, sand-boarding, and hiking in Counselor-In-Training Camp, held at Amazon Community Center, March 25-29, 9
a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Teen Camp will include excursions, adventures, and more, over the course of four days. While all Recreation camps are
open to children of all abilities, this camp is designed specifically for youth ages 15 - 21 with disabilities. It will be held at
Washington Park Center, March 25 - 28.
