If you answered JIVes I " to any of these questions, then the Easy to Read Voting Guide may be for you. The guide uses easier words and pictures to help you to better understand the issues. It also tells you about the people who are running for office (like Governor). It tells you who the people are and what they think is important. The guide DOES NOT try to get you to vote one way or another. Instead, it gives you information so you can make up your own mind. To get a copy in large print, cassette tape, or CD call 1 800 452 0292. For the May 2006 Primary Election, you must register to vote by April 25, 2006. You must write your full legal name, home address, date of birth, and signature. New laws require you to give your Oregon Driver's License/ ID number, if you have one. If you do not have an Oregon Driver's License/ID number, you must give the last four numbers of your Social Security number. If you do not have either of these and you are registering by mail, you must mail in a copy of one of the following: ~photo identification (something with your picture, name and address) ~a recent paycheck stub ~a recent utility bill ~a recent bank statement -+a recent government document (e.g., Oregon Health Plan medical card) ~proof of eligibility under the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA) or the Voting Accessibility for the Elderly and Handicapped Act (VAEH) Any Oregon voter with a disability can call the County Elections Office to ask for help to: -+register to vote -+complete a ballot ~return a ballot A voter can also ask for help from a caretaker, care provider or someone else the voter chooses. If, for any reason, you need help please call 1 866 673 8683 or your County Elections Office. You can request and receive help in your home or any other place you choose such as a library or local Senior Center.
