''i- <br />.-}~,,. <br /> <br />~A~ <br /> <br />I' <br /> <br />The Estimate of the City Engineer of $385.85 as payment :eo' Oscar Snow for <br />constructing a sewer in the alley between Lawrence and Washington Streets from <br />13th to 14th Avenues was, on roll call, ordered paid. <br /> <br />The Estimate of the City Engineer of ~8682.53as payment to Hargreaves and <br />Lindsay for constructing a storm Sewer on Washington Street from the Amazon to <br />20th Avenue; from 20th Avenue from Washington to Jefferson; Jefferson from 20th <br />to 22nd Avenue, on roll call, was ordered paid. <br /> <br />The Estimate of the City Engineer of $1261.95 as payment to Hargreaves and <br />Lindsay for paving the alley between Olive and Charnelton Street from Broadway to <br />10th Avenue, on roll call, was ordered paid. <br /> <br />On motion of the Finance ~ommittee all other bills, as presented and approved <br />were, on roll call, ordered paid as herein set out at the end of the minutes. <br /> <br />The Street 00mmittee reported on the petition to widen 11th Avenue and on <br /> <br />the proposal to widen Willamette Street and recommended the ma tter. be held over <br />until a report of the planning Commission is received. On motion, such report was <br />adopted. <br /> <br />The Street Committee recommended the petition to pave Ordhard Street from <br />Franklin Boulevard to 19th Avenue be granted. On motion such recommendation was <br />ado'p ted. <br /> <br />The Street Committee reported adversely on the petition to vacate the alley <br />between Jefferson and Grundy Streets from 20th to 21st Avenues. On motion, such re <br />port was adopted. <br /> <br />The matter of the purchase of Street signs was laid over. <br /> <br />The Street ~ommittee recommended the petition of the Women's Organizations <br />to permit the childr~n to skate on certain ~treets, and close such streets for tha <br />pUrpose during certa.,ilin hours be re jec ted. oft mo tion such report was adopted. <br /> <br />The Sewer Committee recommended $50,000.00 of sewer bonds be sold. On motion <br />such recommendation was ado~ted. <br /> <br />The Sewer Committee also recommended the City cUt:l the brush in the Amazon <br />West of town and clean up the channel for a certain distance to prevent back <br />water, and the matter was discussed. The Engineer reported it would cost approx- <br />imately $2400.00 to do such work. The Engineer was directed to prepare plans and <br />specifications for such work and present at the next 60uncil meeting. <br /> <br />In the absence of the Chairman of the ~ire and Water Committee, the Mayor <br />reported on the efficiency of the b'ire Department, stating it took only three <br />and one half minutes from the time of a call from the Fair Grounds for the boys to <br />be there in action, but that when 3 wagons are out, no one is left at the Station, <br />and he stressed the need of additional firemen. <br /> <br />A petition was received from the ~ugene Hospital asking for parking reserva- <br />tiOns in front of the hospital.
