On motion such nomination was confirmed. <br /> <br />This being the time to hear objections to the opening of Almaden Street from <br />6th Avenue to 8th Avenue, Florence M Stevens appeared and protested in writing to <br />the terms of said report. After discussion the matter was referred to the <br />Judiciary Committee. Before the close of the Session the Judiciary Committee report <br />ed on such matter and recommended such objections be over-ruled and the report <br />adopted. On motion, such recommendation VlaS adopted. <br /> <br />J 1\1 Moore invited the Mayor and Council to attend the opening of his new <br />slaughter house on April 12, 1928. Sucn invitation was accepted. <br /> <br />A/petition was received for a storm sewer in the alley between Moss and <br />Villard Sts from 13th to 15th Avenues. Said matter was referred to the Sewer <br />Committee and the City Engineer for report. <br /> <br />A petition against the widening of 8th Avenue' West was received. As there is u <br />no petition on file to wi'den said street the matter was held over. <br /> <br />Oil contracts were received from the Shell Oil Co., the Standard Oil Co. and <br />the General Petroleum Corporation to furnish gas and oil to the City for the ensu- <br />ing year; the matter was referred to the Finance Committee and aditional bids were <br />cffalled for. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Reports from the Police 1~tron, the Meat and Milk Inspector and the Inspector <br />of Buildings were presented and fi~d. <br /> <br />A plat of ~unset Terraces was filed, approved and adopted by Ordinance as <br />herein set out. <br /> <br />An application by the Terminal Auto Co. to cut the curb at 521 Willamette <br />Street was referred to the Gouncil on the refusal of the City Engineer to approve <br />the same. Said matter was referred to the Street Committee. <br /> <br />The City Attorney reported on a meeting of the Mayor, members of the Health <br />Committee and members of certain Granges pertaining. to the new meat Ordinance and <br />the same was discussed, The City Attorney was directed to re-draft Section 5(:0t: <br />the meat Ordinance reducing the fee to $1.00 to those selling meat in the City. <br />Vote be ing had, Councilmen Viashburne and Read voted IINo, 11 others l1aye." <br /> <br />The City Attorney spoke on the expense reauired to publish the notices of <br />election in the three annexation issues and stated the notices have been published <br />once giving the names of all members of the Boards and stating if there is no ob- <br />jection, he will cut down the notices in succeeding issues by omitting names of <br />members of the Boards, thus saving expense. <br /> <br />The Mayor asked Prdsident of the Council, Washburne, to take the Chair. Mr. <br />VHlliamson thenc spoke sta ting the Redwood Empire Pacific Coast Caravan is to tour <br />the State and expects to be in Eugene on Monday, April 30, 1928 and an invitation <br />I has been extended to the City to' help them celebrate. The Mayor suggested we accept <br />the inv:btation and get out the Municipal Band and join with the Chamber of Commerce~::in <br />maktng the matter a complete success. On motion, such recommendation was approved. <br /> <br />Melvin Hanson and other camp owners a:ppeared and asked the City close the Auto <br />Camp. The matter was dise~ssed and they were informed the City is to operate the <br />camp at least the coming SUllliiler. <br /> <br />One sidewalk improvement ordinance v~s read the first time and passed its <br />second and third reading by title by unanimous consent under suspension of the rule <br />and was placed on its final passage. The ayes and nays wer~ called,'all present <br />voting aye, nay, none. The Ordinance was declared :passed and numbered 6748. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />~ <br />
