L. Robertson against <br />I the City for injuries to her minor child, Fay Robertson, by falling on a defective <br />sidewalk be settled by allowing her $20.00 on condition that she accept the same Lr. <br />. in full payment of damages and waive all claims against the City. Motion was made ~~ <br />and seconded to adopt the recommendation. The ayes and nays were called, all;~ <br />present voting aye, nay, none, absent Simon and Reid.:"" <br /> <br />Complaint was made with reference to condition of sidewalks at the North- <br />west corner of Broadway and Washington Streets in front of the Bonnett property on <br />Broadway at the Chamber of Commerce, and the City Engineer was directed to check <br />up on these defective walks. <br /> <br />. At this time Councilman Simon appeared in ~ouncil. <br /> <br />The Finance Committee asked and was granted further time for the considera- <br />tion of the Traschel claim. <br /> <br />Chairman Lamb of the Street Committee called attention to the request of <br />Webster Kincaid for the paving of the alley, running East and West between 15th and <br />16th from Alder to Kincaid Street, but it appearing that ~~. Kincaid owned a very <br />small porti on of the property af'fec ted by the improvement, no act ion was taken. <br /> <br />The request of the Laurel Wood Golf Management to erect a sign at 19th and <br />Agate street indicating the direction to the golf course was referred to the Street <br />Committee for investigation. <br /> <br />The City Engineer was directed to report at the next meeting of the C.ouncil <br />as to the ownership of property and location of signs at 13th and Franklin Streets. <br /> <br />Councilman Hendershott called attention to the increased traffic danger at <br />First and Jefferson Streets by reason of the opening of an amusement park, and the <br />matter was referred to the Po'lice Committee. <br /> <br />At this time Councilman Reid appeared in' Council. <br /> <br />I A communication from R. Frank Baker, head of the playground department, <br />addressed to Mr. Hendershott, Chairman of the playground commission, was read <br />before the council, and motion was made, seconded, and carried that the Chief of <br />Police and ~ealth Officer Kerron investigate the sanitary conditions of the play <br />ground and see that the old man living back of the butte moves away to some other <br />locali ty. <br /> <br />The report of Hobi Airways for the month of May, the reports of Health <br />Officer Kerron and C. M. Lawrence, Milk and Meat Inspector, and the report of R. W. <br />Rundlett, Building Inspector, for the month of June were read and placed on file. <br /> <br />The Recorder reported the execution of a satisfaction of the mortgage re- <br />corded in Vol. 67, page 133, of Mortgage Records of Lane County, by the Mayor and <br />Recorder. The note secured by said mortgage having been paid in full to the City <br />Treasurer, and a motion was made, seconded, and carried that the 'satisfaction of <br />said mortgage be and is hereby authorized and ratified as the act of the City. <br /> <br />The following resolution was offered~ <br /> <br />"Resolved that the City of Eugene hereby authorizes its City Recorder to <br />execute in quadruplicate a lease to the United States of America a room containing <br />approxifi~tely ~89 square feet on the Second floor of the City Hall Building, <br />situated on the West side of Willamette between 11th and 12th Streets in Eugene, <br />Oregon. " <br /> <br />A motion was made, seconded, and carried to adopt the resolution. <br /> <br />The following resolution was on motion duly adopted: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION <br /> <br />Whereas, the City of Eugene purchased from the Sheriff of Lane County, <br /> <br />I Oregon, at Sheriff's sale, Lots 14 and 15, Block 33, Fairmount to pro.tect the <br /> <br />City's liens against said property, and whereas the amount of Taxes and interest <br /> <br />paid out is the sum of $142.54 and the amount of City tax and accrued interest and <br /> <br />penalties is the sum of $54.29, and whereas a certificate of delinquency was issued <br /> <br />to the City May 3, 1930, for the sum of $34.54 to which is now added penalty $1.73 <br /> <br />and Interest .70, and whereas a sidewalk assessment was levied against said propert- <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />" I ~ <br />
