M. December 27~ 1937. Mayor Large ~alled the meeting to <br /> i order. All councilmen were present except A. C. Farrington. The minutes of the <br /> I <br />I' previous meeting were presented and ordered filed. <br /> Upon recommendation of the Judiciary Committee a resolution authorizing the <br /> Mayor and Recorder to assign unto W. J. Lichty certificate Jf sale covering the <br /> West 80 feet of Lot 7~ Block 4, Christian's Addition upon payment of $122.77, was I <br />12 unanimously adopted by the council: <br /> RES 0 L UTI 0 N <br /> WHEREAS, heretofore the City of Eugene foreclosed a certain Judgment <br /> Lien entry appearing at Page 469 of Book 5 of the Docket of City Liens <br /> I and conducted a sale of the following property: <br /> The West Eighty (80) feet of Lot Seven (7) Block <br /> Four (4), Christian's Addition to Eugene, Lane <br /> County, Oregon. <br /> I and advertised and showed the same in said proceeding as having been <br />J assessed to Robert W. Prescott and being owned by Alice Lynn. <br /> ~ <br /> It now appears to the Common Cpuncil that the property was actually <br /> II 6wned by IT. J. Lichty but because of a defect in the deed conveying <br /> the same to him it was not properly advertised and he did not receive <br /> II proper notice and the said W. J. Lichty has applied to the court for <br /> an assignment of the certificate of sale of said real property on <br /> !I foreclosure and the council having considered all the facts and circum- <br /> 'I <br /> I stances have determined that in the interests of justice that the <br /> I city's certificate should be assigned to the said ~. J. Lichty and <br /> I <br /> I <br /> i at the expiration of the year for redemption, that the City Treasurer <br /> II should execute a deed to hi~ for the property. I <br /> I IT IS THhREFORE RESOLYED By the Common council of the City of Eugene, <br /> that upon receipt of ~122.77 from W. J. Lichty, that the Mayor and <br /> Recorder be and they are hereby directed to assign the certificate of <br /> I sale heretofore issued by the City Treasurer to: The West Eighty (80) <br /> I Feet of Lot Seven (7), Block Four (4), Christian's Addition to Eugene, <br /> Lane County, Oregon to Y~'. J. Lichty and upon the expiration of the <br /> year of redemption that the City Treasurer shall IDske, execute and <br /> deliver a Treasurer's Deed to said W. J. Lichty, his heirs or assigns. <br /> The Finance Committee requested an additional two weeks time to consider <br />3 the property offer of Jack Luckey and L. C. DeBurgh. <br />/ The $941.78 offer of Melvin L. Price for th~ South 55 feet of Lot 6~ Block <br /> Croner's Addition, with a down payment of $25.00 down and S12.00 a month plus ac- , <br /> crued interest at 6% per year for six months, then $15.00 ~er month, was accepted <br /> by the council on the condition that a down payment of ~lOC.OO be made rather than <br /> ,the ~25. GO. Upon motion made and seconded, the recommendation of the Finance Com- <br />4 mittee was duly accepted. <br />/ <br /> Upon recommendation of the Street Committee, the ccuncil approved repair <br /> of cement sidewalk on Franklin Boulevard east of the Lnchorage along the mill race <br /> at a cost of approximately $50.00 to $75.00 with funds to te drawn from the emergen <br />/5 cy account. <br /> I <br /> The City Recorder was instructed to submit bills tc the following parties <br /> to whom services had been rendered by the fire department cn calls in the outlying <br /> districts: A. Kelly, West 11th, $15.00; Fred Johnson, Rooeevelt Blvd., $15.00; <br />/6 George Wilhelm, Creswell, Oregon, $65.00; and it was so ordered. <br />7 At this time Councilman Farrington arrived. <br /> It was the recommendation of the Park Committee th2.t signs be posted on all <br /> temporary private roads to the effect that it was private property and permission I <br /> to pass over was revocable at any time. Upon motion made and seconded, this re- <br />f 8 co~mendation was aprroved. <br /> The Police Committee recommended approval of the Oregon Hotel Restaurant <br /> and Hotel License and the New Deal Bowling Alley Retail Beer License with the con- <br /> dition on the latter that no minors are to be allowed within the premises. All ap- <br />(9 plications for renewals, submitted at this meeting, were approved. <br /> At this time Councilman Lamb moved acceptance of sE'curity from the First <br /> National Bank for the payment of a lost coupon on a ~ater Board bond.
