It was unanimously approved. <br /> RES 0 L UTI 0 N <br />I WHEREAS, heretofore and on the 10th day of June, <br /> 1940, the Common ~ouncil by Resolution submitted to the <br /> electors of the City of Eugene for their approval or <br /> rejection a charter amendment authorizing the Council to <br /> make not to exceed a three mill levy for two years (1940 and <br /> 1941), and <br /> WHEREAS, at the time of the adoption of the resolution <br /> it was indicated that it would be submitted at a special <br /> or general election to be held in the City of Eugene, and <br /> WHEREAS no special election has been called, the <br /> Recorder be and he is hereby directed to transmit the measure <br /> to the County Clerk to be placed upon the general national, <br /> state and county ballots, to be voted upon at the election of <br /> November 5, 1940. . <br /> A resolution was presented directing the CityRe~order to submit the <br /> swimming'pool measure to the ,County Clerk to be placed upon the general election <br /> ballot to be voted upon at the election of November 5, 1940. It was unanimously <br /> approved and placed upon roll call, councilmen voting aye: Reid, Bond, Carlson, <br /> 3 arrington, Hanns, Koppe and Barette; nay: none; absent: Stewart. <br /> RESOLUTION <br />I WHEREAS, heretofore by initiative petit~on of the <br /> electors of the City of Eugene, an amendment to the charter of <br /> the city of Eugene has been proposed to be submitted to the <br /> electors of the city for their approval or rejection, and <br /> VrnEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Eugene desire <br /> to themselves submit the amendment at the general election to <br /> be held in the city of Eugene November 5, 1940. <br /> The Recorder mf the City is directed to, at this time, <br /> place the same upon file and submit the same to the <br /> County Clerk of Lane County, Oregon, to be placed upon the <br /> general election ballot to be voted upon at the election of <br /> November 5, 1940, a copy of which charter amendment is hereto <br /> attached and made a part hereof. <br /> Ourb cut applications were presented from the following applicants <br /> and the recommendations of the City Engineer unanimously approved: No. 703 for <br /> Dr. M. Grieves- (approved). <br /> Mayor Large reported that Richard Shore Smith, President of the First <br />I ~ational Bank was requesting two loading zones on the Broadway side of the <br /> ~Uilding for loading and unloading freight. After considerable discussion it was <br /> 33~eferred to the Police Committee to report back.. . <br /> Councilman Reid stated it was the request of the Sewer Committee that the <br /> city retain Mr. L.R. Stockman as consulting Engineer for the construction of the <br /> sewage disposal system in Eugene. It was thoroughly discussed by members of the <br /> council and the request was approved with the understanding that the contract be <br /> 34~approved by the City Attorney. <br />I The meeting was herewith adjourned. <br /> C.
