The motion was -carried. <br /> <br />'1-- <br /> <br />, - <br /> <br />~ ~..;r <br /> <br />Mayor Large said that the Chief of Police had requested the use of the <br />Council Chamber room for a Police School and stated there seemed to be lots of <br />requests for the use of the Council room. Councilman Bond said there had previously <br />been a school held for the Fire Department members and that was conducted in the <br />Fire Department quarters and he felt this Police School probably could be handled <br />sithout going into the Council Chambers. Councilman Barette stated he thought - <br />the council had better stick to its previous arrangements regarding the use of <br />the Council Chrunbers and Mayor Large said he would notify the Chief of Police of <br />~' the Council's action. <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />Mayor Large stated that he had received complaints regarding the use of <br />Sladden Park for the IncA girls living center. He stated that he had made <br />explanation to the parties as to the nature of the set-up which would probably <br />satisfy the complaints. It was explained that Mr. W. H. ~land had made some <br />complaints regarding the use of the park for this purpose and Attorney Calkins <br />stated that he was handling some legal affairs for Mr. Hyland and he ~ould take <br />7' the matter up with him on Thesday and the matter was left there. <br />HE <br />Councilman Ste.wart said he wished to report the findings of the Fire and <br />Water COmnlittee in regard to the purchase of fire hose, bids for which had been <br />read at the council meeting of April 28. He said it was his understanding that <br />some of the unbranded fire hose offered at 60 cents and 65 cents per foot was <br />of an equal value wi th "some of the branded hose priced at $1.00 and $1.10 per <br />foot. It was the reco~~endation of the Fire and Water Committee that the city <br />purchase from P. J. Hanns Company 600 feet of 2i inch Hewitt Brand fire hose at <br />a price of 78i cents per foot as per Mr., Hanns' bid of April 21st, and further, <br />that,the city buy from the R. A~ Babb Hardware Company, 200 feet made by <br />Councilman Brownson, seconded by Councilman Barette that the city rescind its <br />action of April 28, in regard to buying only branded hose at $1.00 and $1.10 <br />per foot and accept the recommendation of the Fire and Water Committee to purchase <br />the 600 feet from the P. J. Hanns Company and 200 feet from R. A. Babb Hardwar~ <br />Company.
