The Council had discussed this matter at a previous meeting and ~ <br /> the letter was ordered placed on file. At this time, Engineer Clubb said his iY'l <br /> department wanted some information regarding. permits that had already been secured <br /> by these t-railer users. He said there were a number of them that could not comply <br /> with the interpetation the council had put on the Ordinance and their money should <br /> be refunded. A motion was made, seconded and carried that when it was necessary to <br /> I make refunds for these trailers permits, the money be taken out of the Emergency <br /> 25 Fund and paid throu[h the Revolving Fund. <br /> A letter from Attorney H. V. Johnson with a petition attached regarding <br /> the sanitary conditions at 879 West Second Street was read. Councilman Brownson <br /> reported that only recently Dr. Anderson of the Lane County Health Depe.rtment had <br /> made an investigation of this and reported that under the existing conditions the <br /> matter'was in about the best possible shape until the Estate was settled so that <br /> someone would have authority to connect with the sewer. It was Dr. Anderson's <br /> opinion. that the couditions were not a health hazard. The let~er was ordered placed <br /> 26 on file. <br /> Curb cuts numbers 907 at 793 East 11th Avenue and 908 'at 886 Polk Street <br /> 27 were granted by the council as recommended by Engineer Clubb. <br /> The statement of bills for the Eugene Public Library for the month of <br /> August and the statement of sewerage charges billed and collected for the month of <br /> . 28 August were read and ordered placed on file. <br /> The Recorder presented to the Council a list of unpaid tobacco licenses <br /> and meat and milk licenses and asked for instructions regarding the collection of <br /> these. There was some discussion regarding this and it was the opinion of the counc 'I <br /> that drastic measures should be taken and warrants issued if necessary to make <br /> these collections. The matter was left'Lin the handS of the City Attorney and <br /> 29 Recorder to use whatever means seemed best in order to force these collections. <br /> I A motion by Hawn and seconded by Stewart that the council pass resolutions <br /> regarding the recent death of Mr. F. M. Wilkins and Mr. O. ~. He said the <br /> .- reco~nendation of the Street Committee was that nothing be done at this time <br /> regarding this vacation but that at some future time after more development had <br /> been made there, this matter could be taken up again.
