He CO
said if the bill was paid out of the Airport Fund it would mean that more interest W;
would have to be paid on the airport warrants as money from the tax levies for ",
\."'",
the airport would not all be immediately available. Stewart reported regarding bids for fire hose which had been
I '" opened at the previous council meeting'1 He stated that three of the older firms
, were very close in their quotations. TWo of them bid $1~05 per foot and another
'bid $1!10 per foot. He stated :i:t was th;~ committee's recommendation that the
hose- be purchased as follows:
500 feet. of Warwick hose from t~e Fabric Fire Hose Company through the
Eugene Hardware Company to be purchased at a price of 1.05 per foot.
250 feet of fire hose througn the Oregon Supply Company at $1.05 per foot.
250. feet of Multex Eureka Fire Hose through R. Mr. Hawn had requested that
the balance of the Park Fund be transferred to a ~pecial fund for this purpose.
Councilman Barette stated there was one of the older trucks in the Street Depart-
ment that they had agreed to give the Park Department but that it needed about
I $50.00 worth of repairs and the Street Department would not have the funds necessar
to do this work. Barette 'thought this money should come out of the Park Depart-
ment funQ.s.A motion was made by Bond and seconded by Barette that this $50.00
be set as~d~.out of the park department funds to pay for this repair to the truck.
'After s~e discussion about funds for repairs to the garage, a motion was made'
by Barette and, seconded by Bond that an amount up to and not ~xceeding $400.00
? be s~t aside out of the Park Funds to complete this garage. illotion was carried.
. . Councilman Bond scUd that automobile traffic in Eugene had increased
tremendously in the last year. He said the police department now had one car that
had gone about 13,000 miles, one 58,000 miles and one 68,000 miles, and that the
department really needed a fourth car at this time. He stated there was money
in the ~olice fund for the first six months of 1942 to b~y a new car and it was
his recommendation that one of the policemen be sesignated as.a traffic officer
,and tliat he furnish his own car for this work. and the city pay him $25.00 per month
for the use of his car and also furnish him gas and oil, and this would 'be the
same arrangement. as the two traffic officers now working. This seemed to meet the
approval of all the council and a motion was made by Bond and seconded by Stewart
. .
.8 that this plan be adopted. Motion was carried.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
Fie~
I
Recorder pro-tern
I,
..4
