Mr. Merriam pointed out that the local Defense Council <br />: could order this equipment to go outside the City to fight fires, but that it was <br />I' supposed to be manned by O.C.D. fire volunteers. E. Nusbaum, Chief of the Fire Department of <br />~ the City of Eugene, be and he is hereby authorized to sign that certain "Official <br />;!Bond of Property Officers Under the Regulations of the United States Office of <br />~ Civilian Defense" upon form OCD No. 502 and to accept the same in accordance with <br />I. its tenor, and, <br />:: It Is Further Resolved that upon the execution of said papers that the City <br />:i Recorder be and he is hereby authorized to dmliver them to the OeD at Washington, DC. <br /> <br />II <br />'i <br /> <br />i: Councilman Brownson reporting for the Heal th Committee, stated he had a <br />I; complaint regarding a lean-to wood shed at the N. E. Corner of 16th and Pearl <br />:i Streets and tha t he was asking that an investigation be made by th e Fire and <br />i.! Police Chiefs and report back at the next Council meeting. <br />~ . <br />'.: CounCilman Barette reporting for the Parks said he had some complaints re- <br />f! garding tree limbs over the sidewalk but that no tree trimming would be done at <br />i'l thi s time. <br />::! <br />:] Mayor Large reported he had comp.paints about low awnings on Willamette Street <br />ff and the Building Inspector was instructed to investigate this si tua tion and report <br />It to the Council at the next meeting. <br />i': <br />Ii' S- <br />[] The Sewer Committee had no report. <br />I, <br />!i Councilman Hawn said that he had talked with Mr. Bagan, manager of the employ- <br />Ilment office, and stated Mr. Bagan was willing that a bicycle rack be placed on <br />'l the si dewalk in front of the employment office and that he was going to suggest <br />Ii to Miss Hendricks that the Library place a sign stating "No Bicycle parking allowed <br />l:lon Library Property." A motion was made, seconded, and carried that a bicycle rack <br />it be installed on the sidewalk in front of the Employment Agency at 1133 Willamette. <br />n <br />. .i.~ 't~( <br />1.1 At this time Chief Bergman siad that he and Mr. Lewis had been out and had <br />i:i agreed in placing the show referred to earlier in the meeting on Park Street just <br />I I.: back of the U. S.
