On motion made, seconded and <br />carried, the reconwendation of the Finance Committee was adopted. <br /> <br />Councilman Hawn stated that at the meeting on March 13th, the Finance <br />Committee had recommended that a change in the handling of the City's insurance. <br />be deferred until the first of the next year. He stated that since that time <br />r~r. Crakes had suggested to him that a complete survey of the Ci ty' s insurance <br />~hould be made and that Smith and Crakes or some other member of the Eugene <br />Insurance Association vvould be glad to make a complete survey of the City's <br />insurance, and make a recornmenda tion as to "\lha t should be dope. This survey <br />to be made at no cost to the City and that the City would be under no obligatio <br />to anyone on account of this survey having been made. Councilman Crumbaker <br />stated he did not think this need action by the Couhcil as the Insurance Policies <br />were a pUblic record and were open to anyone for inspection and to make <br />recommendations. Both Councilmen Hawn and Farrington stated there would be <br />no risk in allowing the Insurance Policies to go out of the office for this <br />survey. Councilman Farrington stated he though the City need a suvey of the <br />City's insurance. A motion was made by Councilman Farrington and seconded <br />by Hawn that a survey of the City's insurance be made, and a report thereon <br />could be made by SInith and Crakes or any member of the Eugene Insurance Sssoc- <br />iation or by any other reputable firm. On vote this motion was carried. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Councilman D~vis stated that it was the recommendation of the Street <br />Committee that the proposed vacation of 26th street east from Columbia St., <br />13 be not Iaade at this time. H. Clark property at 282 Van Buren street. <br />A motion was made, seconded and carried that this recommendation be adopted. <br /> <br />Mayor Large stated that he had appointed a rent control committee, but <br />that he had not reported the fact to the Council at the last meeting and <br />wished to stated that the members were as follows: <br /> <br />A. Silva <br />Colonel Tierney <br /> <br />Mayor Large stated h~ had an inquiry regarding prices for dogs and <br />fees charged by the Humane Society in their handling of the dog situation. <br />Councilman Hawn stated that it was entirely up to the Humane Society and <br />the Police Department had no record of their charges. A complaint was <br />made that the dog catcher only picked up valuable dogs and did not pick <br />up the common curs. Councilman Hawn stated that the Humane Society's report <br />showed that they~;had disposed of a great number of dogs, and it was evident <br />that the dog catcher was pi~king up the curs as well as the valuable dogs, <br />and that he thought it was injustice to the Humane Society that a complaint <br />of this kind should be made. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mayor Large stated that he and Councilman Farrington and Engineer <br />Clubg had made an investigation regarding the proposed road on the south <br />side of the new airport, from the south east corner west to the Administ- <br />ration Building, and found that Mr. Oxboror had disposed of his farm and <br />
