<br /> seconded by Farrington and carried that the Mayor and the Recorder be authorized
<br /> to sign the proposed lease.

<br /> I for gasoline for the year 1945 and stated that one of the Oil Co., has suggested
<br /> that it might be wise for the City to call for bids at this time. A IIlotion wa~
<br />26 made by Farrington and seconded by Eawn .and carried that the Recorder advertise
<br /> for bids for gasoline for the year 1945 to be opened at the next Council meeting.
<br /> Councilman Koppe at this time stated that he was not satisfied with the I
<br /> , agreement made for the opening of Pearl Street later on and that he thought the
<br /> ; City should have more thana Gentlemens agreement for the future opening of I
<br />27 : Pearl Street south of 19th. He stated the City had no definite agreement
<br /> further than the closing of High street. Councilman Crumbaker stated he agreed
<br /> with Mr, Koppe regarding Pearl Street but that the opening of Pearl Street
<br /> would necessitate the moving ot the Staduim and football field and that it
<br /> would be necessary for a new location to be secured. He insisted that this
<br /> matter of Pearl Street should not in any way delay the vacation of the streets
<br /> and alleys already proposed. It was pointed out that the City woned some lots
<br /> south of the University tract and east of Patterson street between 19th and 24th
<br /> which might be traded for the Pearl Street tract. This matter was left in the 1
<br /> I hands of the Judiciary Committee to see what could ba worked out with the
<br /> I
<br /> School Board.
<br /> : Councilman Farrington s,tated there was $1000.00 in the budget for trav-
<br /> eling expense regard~ng a City Manager. That the Committee might want to call
<br />2~ four or five proJlpects to Eugene before the next meeting and wanted to know
<br /> I how the Council wanted to meet thier expense. The Recorder pointed out that
<br /> I these sums could be paid out of the Revolving Fund with the OK qf the Committee.
<br />29 I Mayor Large at this time stated that Dr. Hurley had 'been p~esent during the
<br /> meeting and stated he wished to interduce him to the Council.
