IV. County Assumption of Dog Control
Lane County, Springffeld and the city of Eugene have worked for several months toward unified
dog control service. An agreement has been reached which has Springfield Council approval
and is already in effect in Cottage Grove. The proposal provides that all licensing
and enforcement will be done by the County, that two full-time dog control officers will
be provided to work in the city year round, and that two additional men will be
provided during the spring and summer months. The contract will provide for enforce-
ment of the Eugene ordinance in the Ci ty, even though it is stricter than the County
ordinance.
