F. /iirport' Vicini ty Zoning--:'Councii members were previOUSly furilished "Copies of
: Airport Commission recommendations on Lane County zoning amendments proposed in
: the vicini ty of Mahlon Sweet Field. The Commission recommended endorsement of
I the 'proposed zoning (scheduled for hearing May 22, 1973) with the following
IChanges: (1) Amend the Rural Residential District to assure minimum lot size of
five acres; (2) delete certain airport uses from t:he Airport District; and (3)
, creat:e a new dist:rict - Airport Operat:ions District - to include those uses de-
l
'; leted from the AP District.

Bob Shelby, airport manager, explained reil50ns for the recommended changes. He
! referred to the platted ho~sites on Clear Lake Road which lie within the approach
; zone to Runway 3, and said the Co1mlissio~ would be reluctant to endorse any zoning
.' plan which would tend to increase the nwnber of homesites in that area. He said
I the separate airport district is proposed to include uses unique to airport
',operation and would apply to boundaries encompassing il11Y publicly-owned 'airport:
~ in the County. HI. Shelby referred to Farm-Forestry and AGT zoning wi thin the
:boundaries of lIahlon Sweet Field and 5aid the COmmi5.ion felt those cireas should
,clearly be zoned for airport uses alone. 'I'lw AG'l' ar.. i. proposed for future
uses other than those listed for airport operations district should be a joint
: decision between the airport operator and the County zoning jurisdiction.

: John All tucker, chairman of the Airport Commission, expressed the Commission's

the airport
airport is a top
brought soon to
