<br />e <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Mr. Hansen said he attended a meeting with representatives of the <br />Eugene/Springfield Convention and Visitors Bureau. He said the Bureau staff <br />asked the County Commissioners to delay the public hearing so that the BurE!au <br />staff can respond to the proposed room tax increase. He suggested the <br />councilors, also, ask the County Commissioners to delay the public hearing. <br /> <br />Answering a question from Ms. Wooten, Mr. Hansen discussed the proposal to <br />promote tourism in the county with the increase in the County room tax. <br /> <br />Ms. Wooten emphasized that the City Council has not discussed the proposal to <br />increase the City room tax. She said a request to the County Commissioners to <br />delay action on the room tax should note that the City Council hasn't <br />explained that option. <br /> <br />PUBLIC FORUM <br /> <br />No one wished to address the council during the Public Forum. <br /> <br />II. ELECTION OF CITY COUNCIL OFFICERS <br /> <br />A. Council President and Vice President <br /> <br />Ms. Wooten moved, seconded by Mr. Hansen, to elect Mr. Hansen as <br />1986 Council President and Ms. Ehrman as 1986 Vice President. <br />Roll call vote; the motion carried unanimously, 8:0. <br /> <br />Mayor Obie thanked Ms. Wooten for the excellent work she did as President of <br />the Council during 1985. <br /> <br />III. APPOINTMENTS (memo distributed) <br /> <br />A. Consideration of Mayor's Appointments to the Riverfront Research <br />Park Commission <br /> <br />Ms. Wooten moved, seconded by Mr. Hansen, to approve the <br />following appointments to the Riverfront Research Park: <br /> <br />R.A.
