<br />,e <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />M I NUT E S <br /> <br />Eugene City Council <br />City Hall--McNutt Room <br /> <br />January 7, 19B7 <br />Noon <br /> <br />COUNCILORS PRESENT: Debra Ehrman, Emily Schue, Cynthia Wooten, Freeman <br />Holmer, Ruth Bascom, Jeff Miller, Robert Bennett. <br /> <br />COUNCILORS ABSENT: Roger Rutan. <br /> <br />The adjourned meeting from January 5, 19B7, of the City Council of the City of <br />Eugene, Oregon, was called to order by His Honor Mayor Brian B. Obie. <br /> <br />I. ITEMS FROM THE COUNCIL, MAYOR, AND CITY MANAGER <br /> <br />A. local Access to Channel 7 <br /> <br />Mayor Obie said many people expressed displeasure to him and to the councilors <br />when KOAC was moved from Channel 7 to Channel 27 on the Group W cable. Mayor <br />Obie said he called the president of Tele-Communications, Inc., the parent <br />company of Group W Cable, to discuss the change. He said officials of the <br />company were responsive and indicated that KOAC would be repositioned on <br />Channe 1 7. <br /> <br />Mayor Obie introduced Brian Sullivan, the General Manager of Group W Cable in <br />Eugene. Mr. Sullivan said KOAC has been restored to Channel 7. He said the <br />company intended to improve the cable service when it repositioned the <br />channels. He said the accounts of people who purchased converter boxes just <br />to receive KOAC on Channel 27 would be credited with the purchase price when <br />the boxes are returned to Group W Cable. <br /> <br />Mr. Holmer commended Mayor Obie for his response to public concern about the <br />change. <br /> <br />B. Minimum levels of Service <br /> <br />Mr. Miller asked if other councilors are interested in discussing the mlnlmum <br />levels of service that are acceptable to the council and the community. <br /> <br />The councilors discussed his suggestion. Several councilors said acceptable <br />levels of service are usually discussed during consideration of the budget. <br />By consensus, the councilors decided to discuss the matter at the next City <br />Council Quarterly Process Session. <br /> <br />MINUTES--Eugene City Council <br /> <br />January 7, 19B7 <br /> <br />Page 1 <br />
