MINUTES AND FINDINGS OF HEARINGS OFFICIAL AND APPROVAL OF IMPROVEMENT <br /> PROJECT (27TH AVENUE) (JOB # 2364) <br /> City Manager Mike Gleason introduced the item. <br /> Mr. Holmer moved, seconded by Ms. Bascom, to adopt the <br /> Hearings Official's minutes and findings of May 31, 1988, and <br /> to approve improvements for paving on 27th Avenue from <br /> University Street to Elinor Street. Roll call vote; the <br /> motion carried unanimously, 8:0. <br /> III. RESOLUTION SUPPORTING PASSAGE OF COUNTYWIDE LIBRARY LEVY <br /> City Manager Mike Gleason introduced the item. <br /> Res. No. ~--A resolution of the Eugene City Council ex- <br /> 4001 pressing support for the passage of a <br /> Countywide Library Levy June 28, 1988. <br /> Mr. Holmer moved, seconded by Ms. Bascom, to adopt the <br /> resolution. <br /> Mayor Obie asked Jim Meeks, City Librarian, to explain what impact the levy <br /> would have on the Eugene Library if it failed to pass. Mr. Meeks said the <br /> library would have to discontinue the Bookmobile and close Sunday and Monday. <br />e He said the levy represents approximately $240,000 a year for the City's <br /> library. <br /> Mayor Obie asked to what extent are the outside communities dependent on the <br /> serial levy. Mr. Meeks said the levy represents between 6 and 10 percent of <br /> the budgets. <br /> Ms. Wooten said she appreciates the resolution and hopes there are other ways <br /> the council can show its support. She suggested the council hold its next <br /> meeting at the Eugene Library to demonstrate its support for the levy. Mr. <br /> Gleason said staff will investigate that possibility. <br /> Roll call vote; the motion carried unanimously, 8:0. <br /> Mayor Obie recessed the meeting for ten minutes at 7:25 p.m. <br /> IV. PUBLIC HEARING: NUCLEAR FREE ZONE ORDINANCE <br /> City Manager Mike Gleason introduced the item.
