- Ii Councilor Smith suggested that City efforts to develop the export market for e area products be coordinated with State efforts and with those of the Lane Economic Foundation. Ms. Wooten said that the subcommittee was working to avoid duplication and was examining the City's role in the context of efforts such as those being made by the State, the Federal government, the foundation, and the Willamette Valley Trade Association. Councilor Lindberg felt that comparing this year's economic diversification program with last year's showed how much the City had learned in its first year of activity and what good networking had been built with the existing resources in the community. Mr. Lindberg said that he had met with a representative of the City Venture Corporation and that the firm would be submitting a proposal to the City for assisting in the efforts at public/private coordination. Res. No. 3730--A resolution repealing Resolution No. 3584 and adopting the Six-Point Economic Diversification Program/FY 82-83 Action Plan. Ms. Miller moved, seconded by Ms. Smith, to adopt the resolution approving the the Six-Point Economic Diversification Program/ FY82-83 Action Plan. Ms. Wooten expressed appreciation for staff efforts in the area of economic diversification and complimented staff for doing a good job in difficult circumstances with limited resources. Councilor Miller asked if adoption of the proposed policy change to the Community e Goals and policies document was merely a request that the Community Goals Committee consider the proposed policy or whether it would be binding on the committee. Ms. Smernoff responded that it was only a request for consideration and would not be binding. Roll call vote; motion carried unanimously. The meeting was adjourned to October 20, 1982.
