<br /> M I NUT E S <br /> e Eugene City Council <br /> City Council Chamber <br /> September 28, 1983 <br /> 11 :45 a.m. <br /> COUNCILORS PRESENT: Freeman Holmer, Richard Hansen, Cynthia Wooten, Emily <br /> Schue, John Ball, Betty Smith, and Mark Lindberg. <br /> COUNCILOR ABSENT: Brian Obie. <br /> Adjourned meeting of the City Council of the City of Eugene, Oregon, was called <br /> to order by His Honor Mayor Gus Keller. <br /> I. ITEMS FROM MAYOR AND COUNCIL, APPOINTMENTS, ANNOUNCEMENTS, AND AGENDA <br /> ADJUSTMENTS <br /> A. Eugene Celebration <br /> Councilor Wooten introduced Liz Cawood from Cawood Communications, who had <br /> been working with the Eugene Celebration Steering Committee in promotion and <br /> publicity. Ms. Wooten and Ms. Cawood presented the council with Eugene Cele- <br /> bration t-shirts and coffee mugs. Ms. Wooten also presented Mayor Keller with a <br /> copy of the Eugene Celebration art poster for the Mayor's office. She said that <br /> e these items would be available for sale at the Eugene Celebration Store. <br /> Ms. Wooten thanked the 65 business sponsors, the Downtown Commission, the <br /> Private Industry Council, the staff, and the 175 volunteers who had worked to <br /> make the celebration a success. She presented a schedule of the events to the <br /> councilors and said that a copy of the schedule would also be published in the <br /> September 29, 1983, Register-Guard. She thanked the councilors for their <br /> efforts and added that they would be receiving a post-evaluation report and <br /> budget of the event. She said the deficit then stood at $828, which she believed <br /> would be quickly covered through ongoing contributions. Mayor Keller thanked <br /> Ms. Wooten for her efforts and briefly mentioned the various celebration events. <br /> Ms. Wooten said a list of sponsors had been included in the program and said the <br /> Finance Chairperson for the celebration would be arranging an appreciation <br /> luncheon for all the sponsors. Councilor Schue said she had functioned as the <br /> Mayor along with Ed Cone at the opening of the Mayor's Fine Arts Exhibit due to <br /> the absence of Mayor Keller. She urged everyone to view the works in the Park <br /> Willamette Building. <br /> Councilor Smith stated that some revisions to the Friday night schedule of the <br /> celebration had occurred and she distributed a copy of these changes to the <br /> councilors. <br /> B. State Highway Plan <br /> Councilor Hansen urged the councilors and anyone with interest in the State of <br /> Oregon Highway Department1s 6-year plan to attend the public hearing scheduled <br /> e for September 28, 1983. <br /> MINUTES--Eugene City Council September 28, 1983 Page 1 <br />
