It was decided to postpone the <br /> slide presentation until the Goal Session meeting on October 28 due to the <br /> inadequate lighting conditions of the Council Chamber. Ms. Wooten said she <br /> waul d be contacting the Ci ty Manager regardi ng a proposal for a suppl emental <br /> budget for a one-half staff person position starting January 1. She said it was <br /> important to begin planning early for next yearl s celebration. She said that <br /> the Parks Department and the Eugene Development Department would also be con- <br /> sidering budget items for the celebration. <br /> V. PRESENTATION FROM FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY <br /> City Manager Micheal Gleason introduced the agenda item. <br /> David Wildermuth, 4856 Donald Street, a member of the Executive Board of the <br /> Friends of the Libary, voiced his enthusiasm for the library and the services it <br /> provides to the community. He said he appreciated the council action in restor- <br /> ing the budget, thereby putting the Bookmobile back on the street. Mr. Wi 1 dennuth <br /> presented a petition with 1,000 signatures thanking the council for its action. <br /> He offered the library as an appropriate facility to show the Eugene Celebration <br />e slide presentation to the public. <br /> Mayor Keller thanked Mr. Wildermuth for the petition and for his enthusiasm. <br /> Mr. Gleason added that it was rare for a city council to receive such publiC <br /> support. <br /> VI. PUBLIC HEARING: EASEMENT VACATION FOR PROPERTY LOCATED BETWEEN SHAUGHNESSY <br /> LANE AND SPYGLASS DRIVE (BOB MEL TEBECK) (EV 83-2) (map and background <br /> distributed) <br /> City Manager Micheal Gleason introduced the agenda item. He said that it was a <br /> routine item and that no staff report would be presented. <br /> The public hearing was opened. <br /> There being no testimony presented, the public hearing was closed. <br /> CB 2693--An ordinance vacating a 141-wide public utility easement <br /> located between Shaughnessy Lane and Spyglass Drive. <br /> Ms. Schue moved, seconded by Mr. Obie, that the bill be read <br /> the second time by council bill number only, with unanimous <br /> consent of the council, and that enactment be considered at this <br /> time.
