<br />. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />M I NUT E S <br /> <br />Eugene City Council <br />City Council Chamber <br /> <br />May 30, 1984 <br />Noon <br /> <br />COUNCILORS PRESENT: Brian Obie, John Ball, Richard Hansen, Freeman Holmer, <br />Emily Schue, Betty Smith <br /> <br />COUNCILORS ABSENT: Joyce Nichols, Cynthia Wooten <br /> <br />Adjourned meeting of the City Council of the City of Eugene, Oregon was called <br />to order by His Honor Mayor Gus Keller. <br /> <br />I. ITEMS FROM MAYOR & COUNCIL, APPOINTMENTS, ANNOUNCEMENTS, AGENDA ADJUSTMENTS <br /> <br />A. Request for Public Participation <br /> <br />Mayor Keller requested that any individuals interested in representing the City <br />Council on a committee working to defeat a measure similar to Ballot Measure 3 <br />should contact the council as soon as possible. He said that a meeting for <br />the committee was scheduled for June 7, 1984. <br /> <br />B. City Councilor Absence <br /> <br />Mayor Keller said that Councilor Wooten had notified him that she would be <br />unable to attend this meeting. <br /> <br />C. City Councilor Vacation <br /> <br />Councilor Schue stated that she would be on vacation for three weeks beginning <br />June 4, 1984. <br /> <br />D. Handgun Control <br /> <br />Councilor Holmer stated that he had received only four negative telephone calls <br />in response to his comments suggesting handgun control but that he had received <br />numerous positive comments in person. He said he did not expect to present any <br />item to the council on the issue in the near future but emphasized that he was <br />still concerned with the issue of violence.
