Roll call vote; the motion carried unanimously, 7:0. <br /> Mayor Obie said the resolution will be forwarded to the Schafer family and to <br /> Lane Community College. In addition, the City flags will be flown at half <br /> mast. <br /> M. Announcements <br /> 1. Notification of Union Settlement <br /> Mayor Obie announced that the City had signed labor agreements with the Inter- <br /> national Association of Fire Fighters and the International Alliance of Thea- <br /> trical Stage Employees and Motion Picture Operators. He said he appreciated <br /> the cooperation of the two AFL-CIO unions with the efforts of the City in pro- <br /> viding services. Frank Jackson, representing the IAFF, thanked the City Coun- <br /> cil for its concern and consideration. He said the contract negotiations had <br /> taken a year, with the next contract negotiations to begin in November. City <br /> Manager Micheal Gleason said he felt the employees demonstrated great concern <br /> in providing quality service to the community. <br /> 2. Agenda Change <br /> City Manager Micheal Gleason stated that staff wished to delete Item II-B, <br /> e concerning the Nuisance Abatement for 938 Jefferson Street. He sa i d the item <br /> will be considered as a decision by the council on August 12, 1985. In <br /> response to a question from the public, City Attorney Tim Sercombe said the <br /> item will be a council motion to direct staff to abate the nuisance. He sa i d <br /> a public hearing would not be held because the abatement notice had not been <br /> appea 1 ed. Councilor Ehrman reported that one of her clients had apparently <br /> been hired to assist the property owner in removing material from the pro- <br /> perty. Mayor Obie agreed to delete the item from the agenda. <br /> 3. Cancellation of August 14, 1985, Council Meeting <br /> City Manager Micheal Gleason suggested canceling the City Council meeting of <br /> August 14, 1985, stating that the agenda items could be shifted to other meet- <br /> ings. The council agreed to cancel the meeting. <br /> N. Appoi ntments <br /> 1.
