Code Amendment re: Permitting duplexes, triplexes, and fourplexes as
outright uses in RA & R-l zones on certain size lots.
Recommended by Planning Commission on September 7, 1976.
Jim Bernhard, Planning Commissioner, said early this year Planning
Commission recommended revised standards for panhandle lots, which
represents a major change in RA and Rl zoning districts. The amend-
ment will not increase densities as lot sizes are larger and existing
services could be used in most cases. It is an alternative to multi-
family, but it was not a unanimous recommendation. Betty Niven, Joint
- Housing Committee, said the proposal is not a proposal for low-income
housing. It offers possibilities for kinds of home ownership that may
otherwise never be able to happen. Lower land costs will result in
lower construction costs.
537 Minutes 11/8/76 -1
