Mr. Delay wondered about any efforts regarding abolition of mandatory e retirement at any age. Andy Clement said the major concerns were from the City Attorney's office. Primarily, staff would be looking at what other states have done. Public hearing was opened. Jewel Baker, Aging Commission alternate, reminded the Council of its hard task when it decided that there should be no discriminatory practices toward homosexuals. She said the Commission would like to insist that someone age 65 and older is entitled to the same kinds of considerations. She said it should be understood that continuing employment past 65 should be on the basis of competency only. In no way would they want an incompetent person to be retained. Seniors are perfectly willing to stand their performance against anyone of any age. Public hearing was closed. C.B. 1738--Regarding Human Rights: Amending Sections 4.615 and 4.620 of the Code, 1971; and providing an effective date was read by council bill number and title only, there being no Councilor present requesting that it be read in full. Mr. Keller said he had no problem with staff responding to the issue of removal of any age reference from the Code at some future convenient date. - Mr. Hamel moved, seconded by Mr. Bradley, that the bill be read the second time by council bill number only, with unanimous consent of the Council, and that enactment be considered at this time. Motion carried unanimously, and the bill was read the second time by council bill number only. Mr. Hamel moved, seconded by Mr. Bradley, that the bill be approved , and given final passage. Located east of Coburg Road between Bailey Lane and Tandy Turn (Z 78-17) (Rossi) Recommended by Planning Commission July 18, 1978 Mr. Saul commented that concern was expressed about the type of development that would occur on the property. It was recommended at the Planning Commission hearing that PUD procedures be enacted to provide for public review. No Councilors declared ex parte contacts or conflicts of interest.
