W. Hamel, Mark Lindberg, Gretchen Miller, Emily Schue, <br />Betty Smith, and Cynthia Wooten (11:40 to 11:50 a.m.) <br /> <br />ABSENT: Councilors Eric Haws and Brian Obie, and Mayor Gus Keller. <br /> <br />Adjourned meeting of the City Council of the City of Eugene, Oregon, was called <br />to order by Her Honor Acting Mayor Gretchen Miller. <br /> <br />I. ITEMS FROM MAYOR AND COUNCIL, APPOINTMENTS, ANNOUNCEMENTS, AGENDA ADJUSTMENTS <br /> <br />A. Correspondence <br /> <br />Mr. Hamel said that he had received a letter from Dunham Motors regarding that <br />firm's sign. He turned the letter over to staff with a request that staff <br />pursue the matter. <br /> <br />B. Brunch with Lane County Legislative Delegation <br /> <br />Ms. Smith reminded councilors of the council brunch with the Lane County Legis- <br />lative Delegation at the Treehouse Restaurant, 10 a.m., Saturday, May 30, 1981. <br />Ms. Smith said that there are still many important issues to come before the <br />Legislature. <br /> <br />C. Recreation and Tourism Brochure <br /> <br />Ms. Smith said that she had attended a presentation on the Recreation and <br />Tourism Brochure. Ms. Smith said that the Room Tax Committee will be reviewing <br />the information in the document. In 1980, $160 million in direct income and <br />3500 jobs were directly related to the tourism industry. Councilors should keep <br />in mind the economic development potential of tourism and the recommendations <br />made in the report. <br /> <br />D. Sewers <br /> <br />Ms. Smith said that halfway through the construction of the sewage treatment <br />plant, the rules regarding funding of the plant had been changed. She reported <br />that the Metropolitan Wastewater Management Commission had discussed a number of <br />avenues to follow to obtain the money that the commission feels should be <br />allocated to the. Eugene-Springfield treatment plant.
