M., Maroh 30, 1931. Counoil was oalled to order by Mayor <br />Wilder with all Gounoilmen present. <br /> <br />. Bids ~or the purohase of $400,000 ,City of Eugene Power and Light Bonds were <br />o:P6ned and read and referred to the Finanoe Committee and Water Board. <br /> <br />J. F. Parks, representative of the Seattle Equipment Corporation, exhibited <br />a patented stop street ,sigp., and Chairman Simon of the PolioeOommittee moved that <br />the Oi ty purchase six of these and t,ry them out. Mo tion was seconded and oarried. <br /> <br />,., <br />.,,) <br />-: - ;", <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Chairman Hendershott of the Fire and Water Committee moved that the City <br />pay for cleaning and pre ssing the olothing of volunteer firemen ~o assi sted at <br />the Graham Building fire, wi th the underst anding tha t Chi ef Nusb~um wi 11 de termine <br />who is entitled t;o this. <br /> <br />Reoorder stated that upon the suggestion of Chief Nusbaum he had direoted <br />H. Maerz to t.he Eugene Hospital for injuries reoei ved as a volunteer in the fire <br />figh tinge <br /> <br />The following resolution,was presented at the request of the Eugene Water <br />Motion was made, seoonded, and carried to adopt the resolution. <br /> <br />Board. <br /> <br />n <br /> <br />RES 0 L UTI 0 N <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of EUgene, acting by and t;hrough its Water Board, pur..,. <br />chased oertain4~ U. S. Treasury Bonds - 1947/1952, to the amount of Fifty-four <br /> <br />, . <br />Thousand Dollars ($54,000.00) from tunds belonging t,o the Department of Light <br />and Water of the Oi ty of Eugene, sai d bonds being bonds of the United State s of <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Amerioa, and <br /> <br />.' <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the said Water Board, having oontrol of said bonds, and <br />WHEREAS, said Board desires t,o sell and dispose of the same, and <br />WHEREAS, the Oi ty Water Board had requested t,hat the Common Counoil of the <br />City of Eugene, authorize t.he said Water Board to sell and dispose of said bonds <br />at the best prioe obtainable. <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Counoil of the City of ~gene <br />in regular session t,hen being, t;hat the Wat er Board of the Oi ty of Eugene be, <br />and it is hereby authorized and empowered to sell and dispose of the following <br />described bonds, to-wit: 4*% U. ~. Treasury Bonds - 1947-1952, ,4 @ $1,000.00 eaoh, <br />Nos. C00008633F to C00008636F, inolusive; 5 @ $10,000.00 eaoh, Nos. K00000920D <br />to K00000924D, inclusi ve; said bonds belonging to the Department of Light and <br /> <br />Water of the City of wgene, Oregon. <br /> <br />n <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />The Viewers reported against the opening of the Alley between Monroe Street <br />and Adams Street and First Avenue to Second Avenue, and a mot,ion was made, second <br />ed, and earried to refer the report back to the Viewers for further oonsideration <br /> <br />. The Reoorder and, Street Commissioner were instructed to negotiate with <br />Mr. H. L. Hilliard regarding a refund on a paving cut a~ 987 West 5th Avenue of <br />April 16, 1926,. <br /> <br />A report of the Judioiary Committee and City Attorney, relating to the hour <br />or labor for various employments in the City, was read and on motion adopted. <br /> <br />Report of the Publio Library for the month of February and a report of <br />Hobi Ail"Ws\y s Company for the months of January and February were read and placed <br />on file. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />An application of J.'E. Shouse for a rooming house permit at 775 Willamette <br />Stree t, approved by t.he Chief' of Police, R. W.
