WHS also received the 2014 Oregon Pillar 2 Award for healthy, safe,
students and staff. The Sustainable School Award acknowledges a
comprehensive approach to sustainability in four content areas: environmental
impacts; healthy, safe, students and staff; education for sustainability:
environmental and social literacy; and social sustainability.

Bethel neighborhood schools enhance neighborhood livability and high-quality
school programming. The schools provide a long-term investment in the
community and the economy while maintaining opportunities for academic
enrichment, an improved quality of life, and a vision of hope for the future. As a
result of Willamette’s achievements, the school has also been nominated for a
national Green Ribbon School Award by the U.S. Department of Education. The
Green Ribbon Award will be announced on Earth Day on April 22.

The City of Eugene has been partnering with the Bethel School District over the last year as part of a pilot program that
integrates investments in buildings, curricula, educational programming, and ongoing facility operations.

For more information, contact Stephanie Scafa at 541-682-5652.

Spring Break for Kids and Teens at Eugene Public Library
During spring break, all locations of the Eugene Public Library will host “The Amazing Spaghetti Magic and Fun Show” for
kids.
