Children between the ages of five and 13 could win a 30-day Family Pass to Amazon Pool just <br />for writing about their favorite Eugene Park! Winning essayists will also receive an <br />award certificate and their essay will be read aloud by Mayor Kitty Piercy at a City <br />Council meeting and published in the Fall Recreation Guide. <br /> <br />Children should enter in the five- to nine-years-old or 10- to 13-years-old division. <br />Entries will be judged on originality, creativity, grammar, and spelling. All essays <br />should include the answers to at least two of these three questions: <br /> <br />What is your favorite Eugene Park? <br /> <br /> <br />What do you like to do there? <br /> <br /> <br />How do you think we could get more kids outside to play? <br /> <br /> <br />An official essay entry form is available at www.eugene-or.gov/pos or any City <br />community center or pool. Entries may be submitted by mail, hand delivery or <br />email, but must be received by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13. Often, events are co-sponsored by community and non-profit <br />partners including Lane Community College Small Business Development Center and SCORE: <br />Counselors to America's Small Business. <br /> <br />In May, Roger Wong will cover the critical points to consider when thinking about opening a <br />restaurant, coffee shop, or food cart. His talk - How to Start a Restaurant, Coffee Shop, or <br />Food Cart - at 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 8, at the Downtown Library, can help turn goals into <br />reality -- or help participants realize that the restaurant business may not be for them. <br /> <br />On Thursday, May 11, at 6 p.m., Kathleen Gage will teach Marketing Your Business: Visibility, <br />Reach, Revenues, at the Downtown Library. Learn proven strategies to effectively market a <br />business for success -- without going broke in the process.
